Muscle Milk takes wet win at Mid Ohio

The Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf Muscle Milk Aston Martin Lola Coupe B08 took the overall victory at a wet round five of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón held at the Mid Ohio road course. For Luhr and Graf it was their third victory of the season.

The race started in dry conditions as the pole sitting Mazda powered Lola of Guy Smith and Chris Dyson took the early lead. The Dyson Racing car held onto the lead until a restart after a full course yellow for an incident involving a LMPC car. On the restart the Luhr/Garf Aston Martin was able to get by the Smith/Dyson car.

At about the hour and half into the race the skies opened up and the rain continued to fall.  With a little more than 10 minutes remaining, race officials waved the red flag and brought the field into pit lane after a three-car incident sent the Flying Lizards' Porsche off the track and into a gravel trap. All cars were directed into the pits with about six minutes left in the race because of standing water on the track which was making driving conditions treacherous. Per Series rules, as the race was past half distance, the clock continued to countdown to the checkered flag. It is the third win of the season and second in-a-row for Muscle Milk.

"I'm 100 percent behind race control that they stopped the race," commented Luhr. "It was dreadful. You see guys in GT -, the best of the best in the GT class - and they were spinning off everywhere. It looked like amateurs but there was nothing you could have done."

The Smith/Dyson was able to hold on second even after a spin in the rain. The Autocon duo of Chris McMurry and Tony Burgess finished third in their Lola-AER.

Intersport Racing collected its first LMPC trophy with drivers Kyle Marcelli and Tomy Drissi who are each first-time winners in ALMS. When contact, spins and penalties cost current LMPC contenders CORE autosport and Genoa Racing time on track, patience led the Dublin, Ohio-based team's ORECA FLM09 to the class victory.

Porsche factory pilot Wolf Henzler celebrated victory in the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR after a sensational charge through the field in torrential rain, he clinched the first win of the season for Porsche with his teammate Bryan Sellers. For the Falken Tire team, this marks the first ever win in the popular race series with the world’s fastest sports cars.

Je rentre d’un week end un peu prolongé, j’étais partie chez mes parents boire du vin, manger du fromage, et me faire dorloter un peu. Les deux premières parties ont été largement accomplies, pour la dernière, j’attends encore que ma maman m’offre un nouveau sac à main, et on verra après. (Elle est un peu mécontente que je sois partie le mercredi, alors qu’elle voulait que je reste jusqu’au vendredi au moins, mais pfff, moi j’avais pas pris assez de culottes, ni de pantalons, alors bon, les culottes, ça va, je peux les laver, mais les pantalons, j’aime bien avoir du choix, donc ça ne me convenait pas)(et puis en plus, hein, il a plu, c’est pas comme si je pouvais rester en maillot de bain.)

Je suis partie avec mon amie B., qui est fantastique (c’est un compliment qui n’est pas vraiment utile dans mon récit, mais elle est vraiment fantastique)(alors bon), on a mangé des sushis dans le TGV, c’est génial, ça, manger des sushis dans le TGV, quand ton voisin, connard au demeurant, n’a qu’un vulgaire sandouiche qui a l’air dégueulasse. (Mon voisin avait également un pantalon de costume qui ressemblait à celui qu’aurait porté un bouffon, si, par exemple, le bouffon avait décidé de prendre le train.)

Bref, le samedi, on avait prévu d’aller visiter  Saint Emilion , charmante petite bourgade viticole sise pas loin de Bordeaux, pas loin de Libourne non plus, et qui est probablement l’endroit où on fait les meilleurs vins en France. Pour tout avouer, ma petite soeur travaille en ce moment à l’Office du Tourisme là bas (coucou, coucou!) donc c’était aussi l’occasion d’aller la voir dans son uniforme de travailleuse de là bas.

Elle nous avait donc concoté un programme sensationnel, c’est à dire que nous avons pris un petit mini bus, avec une guide (QUI ETAIT GENIALISSIME) et on est partis dans les vignes, en écoutant la guide, et en s’arrêtant de ci, de là. Pour finir, on a atterri dans un château, le château des Laudes , pour faire une dégustation, et écouter le patron nous parler de sa vigne.

Bah mes cochons, c’était vraiment top top. Il a fait un temps que ne renierait pas Madame Soleil, assurément ; notre guide, vraiment, était une perle, même si on a crevé un pneu du mini bus ; on a bu du super vin, et le patron de la vigne était tout à fait chauvin, ça collait parfaitement avec l’image qu’il renvoyait, bref, bref, bref, bien bien bien. Je ne peux donc que vous conseiller de faire un truc pareil si d’aventure vous allez par là bas. Soit dit entre nous, il faut aller par là bas, parce que la région est carrément canon.
