Paul Hanagan, who has long been attached to the North Yorkshire stable of trainer Richard Fahey, is the current British champion jockey after becoming the first northern-based rider to top the standings since Kevin Darley took the honour in 2000.
At the start of last season he was a 40/1 chance for the Flat jockeys’ championship but enjoyed a fantastic 2010 as he topped the table from the season’s first day and never relinquished the lead, clinching the championship on the final day of the Flat season in November with 191 winners, two more than his closest rival, Richard Hughes.
Hanagan was born in Warrington, Cheshire on 8 September, 1980. His father Geoff briefly rode as an apprentice and Hanagan undertook a nine-week course at the British Racing School having spent time learning the ropes with local trainer Terry Caldwell. He moved to Malcolm Jefferson’s Malton stable and, having briefly tried to be a jump jockey, joined Richard Fahey’s nearby yard as a 17-year-old.
His first major win came in the 2002 John Smith’s Cup on Vintage Premium and many of his other biggest successes have come in valuable handicaps for Fahey. His Group winners include Anna Pavlova in the 2008 Lancashire Oaks, Utmost Respect in the following year’s Duke Of York Stakes and Barefoot Lady in the 2011 Nell Gwyn Stakes. Wootton Bassett provided him with a first Group One triumph in 2010 when winning the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, having previously taken two valuable sales races.
The Liverpool FC-supporting rider is married to Anna, who works for Fahey, and has two sons – five-year–old Josh and Sam, who was born in January, 2010. After winning his title, Hanagan was invited to Anfield on 4 January, 2011, for a Premier League game between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers. At half-time, he was taken onto the pitch where legendary Liverpool striker Ian Rush re-presented him with his championship trophy in front of the Kop.
He is currently locked in a close battle with Silvestre De Sousa for the 2011 jockeys’ championship.

So the battery on my recently purchased 2004 Suzuki SV650S no longer held its charge. This is the original battery that's in the bike and the suggested replacement. I called ALL the local stores and not a single one had this exact battery in stock nor was I willing to settle for a "direct replacement" made by companies I never heard of before for $20-40 than the recommended battery. Why pay more for what may turn out to be a cheap knock off or not meet the requirements Jump starting a bike is a lot more hassle than a car. Keep in mind that this battery comes with the acid in a separate container that you need to pour into the battery itself. I was a little hesitant about this at first, but it's absurdly simple. You turn the container upside down, push it into the battery which pierces the container and allows the acid to pour into the battery. Yes you do need to charge it afterwards, but if you have a motorcycle, you probably already have the required charger so it's not a big deal. Finally, the added bonus of the battery being shipped separately from the acid means that until you add the acid, it's not decaying. Precharged batteries begin to decay the second the acid is added. You can order this battery today and store it as a backup as long as you like. I purchased this battery to replace the factory battery in my 2003 Suzuki GSXR 1000. That battery lasted me 8 years since I always left it on my Battery Tender Jr. and I'm assuming this battery will last me just as long due to it being a Yuasa. This battery was shipped very, very quickly with very professional packaging. Would definitely buy from again. Price for a Yuasa battery was great also.
