S.J. groups win award for recycling partnership
Green Team San Joaquin and the San Joaquin County Solid Waste Division will be honored as the 2011 Outstanding Closing the Loop award winners by the California Resource Recovery Association.
The awards program, which recognizes outstanding efforts in resource management, recycled products, waste prevention and zero waste, lauded the groups' partnership in promoting the Recycling Market Development Zone and area green businesses.
Development zone representatives identify companies willing to use more recycled materials, giving local recycling businesses a competitive edge.
"Your efforts clearly set a dynamic leadership example for others to model and follow," said Jacy M. Bolden, head of the association's awards committee.
The award will be presented Aug. 2 in San Diego during the association's annual conference.
Green Team San Joaquin is a Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce program, bringing together businesses and public agencies to help identify new ideas and products that benefit the environment while also lowering costs for businesses and help create new jobs.
The California Resource Recovery Association is a professional organization for those involved in waste prevention, reuse and recycling.
