Shayne Heffernan has upgraded Caterpillar Inc. NYSE:CAT to a must own stock and issued a 2012 price target of $160.
In a note to traders yesterday Shayne Heffernan cited the growth in commodity and agricultural prices and production as well as the growing demand for the Caterpillar Inc. NYSE:CAT product range in emerging markets as a reason the stock should be in investors portfolio’s.
Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) posted Q-2 Y 2011 profit attributable to common stockholders of US$1.015B, an increase of 44% from US$707M in the prior year.
Profit per common share for the recent Quarter amounted to 1.52 vs. 1.09 in the year earlier quarter.
Excluding US$204M of expense related to the acquisition of Bucyrus, Q-2 profit per share was 1.72, a 58% improvement from 1.09 last year.
Quarterly sales and revenues of US$14.23B were up 37% from US$10.41B a year ago. 2 analysts estimated revenues of US$13.52B for the Quarter.
For F-Y 2011, the Company currently expects sales and revenues in a range of US$54 to 56B and profit per share of 6.75 to 7.25.
That is an improvement from its previous outlook of $52 to 54B of sales and revenues and profit per share of 6.25 to 6.75.
