Aspenhome recognizes varied uses of home office
The program, called Works for Me, covers five key ways in which consumers use the home office — identified as the private office, the family hub, the night work space, the focal point and the social living area. Aspenhome is suggesting various items for each use.
The private office category targets dedicated home office spaces typically used to support executive office suites.
Hathaway Hill is a new group Aspenhome is launching that is designed for private office use.
Made with distressed cherry veneers in a black truffle finish, it has nine pieces including a 72-inch executive desk that retails at $1,799, a credenza and hutch, a desk and return, a bookcase wall, a lateral file and desk chair.
For the family hub, items include peninsula desks where multiple family members can use the same workspace at once.
The night work category includes smaller desks suitable for bedrooms, while the social living category includes items suitable for family living areas where the desk is off to the side of the room. In the focal point category, the desk is the central piece in the room.
Aspenhome is introducing product for the latter four categories - all but private office - under an umbrella called E2 Class Office Furniture. Four new desks in the E2 Class include a T-shaped unit with hutch that retails for $1,499, an L-desk and 48- and 60-inch writing desks. There also are companion bookcases, lateral file units and a desk chair.
The E2 pieces are available in cherry veneers in a casual cherry finish or ash veneers in a transitional espresso finish.
"It is more than a marketing or labeling campaign for our product line," said Bryan Edwards, vice president of sales, adding that he believes the program will provide some of the best values Aspenhome has offered in home office. He also said he expects the program will receive positive response from retailers who are looking for fresh approaches to the category.
"I think that many home office departments have been diluted and there are no defined areas - it is just a sea of desks," Edwards said. "Hopefully this starts the conversation of how the consumer uses home office."
As part of the program Aspenhome is offering layout and merchandising suggestions and related marketing support to review with retailers at market.
