Remember the Munster?s? Remember Eddie the little Munster? Guess what, he?s all grown up now and in his 50?s and he developed a Munster in his eye. This Munster or cataract was preventing him from seeing the world and causing difficulty for him to read the cue cards. He was looking around for a good surgeon (it took him a long time because he had only one good eye). He bumped into Dr. Khanna at the T.V. Land Awards. He mentioned to Dr. Khanna his problems with vision, and the doctor told him to come to his office for a detailed exam. One Tuesday in the fall little Eddie ended up at Khanna institute. A detailed and through eye exam was preformed. The exam included a corneal topography, IOL master, refraction and a full dilated exam. The diagnosis of cataract was confirmed.
The next part was the more difficult one. No, it was not convincing Butch that he needed surgery, nor Dr. Khanna that the Munster would not be a Munster on the table. It was trying to find time in the busy schedules of these two wonderful people who are masters in their field. No mountain is too difficult to cross and after waiting a few months everything was in place. Butch wanted to see as well as he saw when he was a child star in ?The Little Bears?, Butch said he wanted to see far and near in that eye so that he would not need glasses anymore. After a thorough discussion the lens which passed the demanding requirements of an actor who is flying all over for his work, was the restor aspheric intermediate presbyopic lens.
Then Butch Patrick arrived on the day of surgery calm and collected as he said he had a lot of faith in Dr. Khanna. The surgery itself went uneventfully and was over in a few minutes. Dr. Khanna numbed up Butch?s eye and used the latest pain free techniques to do a safe and effective procedure.
Butch was very happy with the results and excited that he finally had good vision. He came for a follow up in 3 days and could see far and near in the operated eye. He immediately called up his sister, his producers and was raving with joy. This new lease of vision delivered to him and yes he felt he could see like a little Munster again. Butch and Dr. Khanna documented the entire procedure on camera.
